AI SCAM ON LISTINGS

Things just got a whole lot goofier in the Real Estate listings department. There have been numerous reports of AI Generated pictures that don’t show what the real listing looks like. Well, there’s a surprise. NOT!!! What did you expect? Whenever there is a new tool that you can use to cut corners and do the work for you, what did you think the lazy sector of realtors would do? Believe me, there are people in the business that will do as little as possible to make a good buck. No different than any other business these days. Except in the heady days of 2019-2021 they seemed to proliferate like little rabbits. All these newbies that wanted in on the big buck action. That also weren’t willing to sacrifice and take time to actually learn the trade. No, they just wanted to throw a sign on the lawn and let the market do their job for them. So when things started to slow down in 2022 a whole new reckoning was taking place. As in Holy Cow what do I do now. Just in time comes along another tech friendly tool that will do your job for you. Write the description, manipulate the pictures – you name it. AI was there for you. Sorry, but I have no time for this stuff. You can pick an AI generated story out of a crowd with ease. It uses words not normally used. And phrases that make you scratch your head and go HUH? Just one more tool in the toolbox right? Not a chance. Because instead of people using this as an enhancement to the work they do, they want this to do ALL the work. Gives them more time to meet buddies and sip lattes (or whatever the heck they do) I will spare the back in my day diatribe but suffice to say I always believe it goes back to just doing the work. There are NO corners to cut. Especially in this business with the rapidly changing landscape, rules, regulations and most importantly client needs. Those change on a daily basis and I have yet to find an APP that can keep up with that. We thought we had died and gone to heaven when the Prospect Match came out. We could line up client wants in areas they were looking for. Specific house sizes, number of bedrooms, and so forth. Automatically would be sent to client overnight. You might get a call in the morning from said client asking for more details on a certain listing they were sent. Great ice breaker. It would seem that is not enough. With technology it never is. We seem to be hell bent on progressing to the point of no return. I still maintain that all the tech advances are far ahead of our ability to adapt and absorb just what is going on. And that shows when people are trying to figure some of this stuff out. Wouldn’t it be much easier just to write the stuff yourself? Put some soul and a little bit of you into it? Certainly makes things more relatable to your clients. That’s what matters most.

Think about this for a minute. You want to sell your home and an agent advertises I can list your home and if it doesn’t sell in 30 days or less, I will buy it. Too good to be true, right? Pretty much
